Exploring My Backyard On A Rainy Day

What can you find in an overgrown yard on a rainy day?

This is my tiny yard after 4 months of not cutting the grass! No joke, only 4 months. It is the rainy season here and in Indonesia  stuff grows uber fast. 

I opened the sliding door and this grass just fell right in.

 Of course Lucy showed up to see what I was doing..

Anybody notice how fat she has got? She is certainly on the mend from her broken leg..and way preggers!

Heres "Baby Daddy", I am always trying to scare him off and not feed him..but it doesn't work..I guess his love for Lucy is just too strong.

The whole reason I went into the yard was because something shiny caught my eye. I was a bit hesitant, because honestly who knows what is back there lurking in the tall, tall grass. Lucy has brought home rats half her size and I have found nibbles taken out of my Birkenstocks.

On this particular day I spotted caterpillars. Sometimes there are gorgeous butterflies or in the cool of the night large toads  or giant cockroaches...blah!

I have never seen a caterpillar with those long feeler/pokey things on it's backside.

I think that there is currently someone living in here.

I have never seen chrysalis so shiny and iridescent, they are so well camouflaged.

Can you spot the chrysalis and the caterpillar in the two far sides of the photo?

Who took a bite out of that? I recently read a post on Facebook that said something like : We kill all the caterpillars and then wonder why all the butterflies are gone.
